Student Pastor
On Sunday, September 11, Yorkville United Methodist Church will
welcomes Pamela Garside-Meyers as student pastor, under the guidance of
Pastor Sue Leih. Pamela has a BS degree in psychology with a minor in women's
studies from UW-Whitewater and some training in music. She worked as a
counselor in an intensive treatment center for adolescent girls from the
Chicago area, and at Snap-On Tools, before feeling a call to ministry and
returning to school at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. She has
just completed the coursework for UM Certification in Spiritual Formation
and over the next two years will complete a Master's of Divinity degree.
Pamela is married to David Meyers, a psychotherapist in northern
Illinois and Kenosha. They live in Pleasant Prairie with their two
children: Joshua, 12, and Samantha, 10. Her hobbies include bike riding,
bike racing, or competing in a woman's triathlon or time trial.
Pastor Pamela will be at Yorkville UMC throughout the school
year and she looks forward to a time of mutual learning and spiritual growth
with the congregation.
