United Methodist Women at Yorkville
"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands." --2 Timothy 1:6
The emblem of the United Methodist Women symbolizes the organization. The cross and flame are ancient symbols of the church and appear on the UMW emblem. Both remind United Methodist Women of our purpose of growing in our understanding of and willingness to participate in the global ministries of the church. The shape is fluid and free flowing, suggesting change and mobility.
Two Choices:
A Time and Focal Point for Everyone
Daytime Circle
We are the traditional UMW group who has been around for many
years. We meet in the daytime as our name implies. This is an
ideal time for many of the women in our church who are not interested
in, or able to, attend evening meetings. We are very much focused
on mission and fellowship.
Candlelight Circle
Our Candlelight Circle gets its name from two sources: at each and every meeting a candle is lit to help us focus on our purpose, and we are a group who meets in the evenings. Evening meetings enable those women who work outside the home to become involved in a UMW group. We, too, are very much focused on mission and fellowship.
Women of faith, here is your opportunity to get involved!
